Chicago Point Resort is situated on Gun Lake in the foothills of what some have called the mini-Appalachian mountains of southwestern Michigan. Surrounding Gun Lake’s 2600 acres of clean spring fed waters is 20,000 acres of State owned land part of which is known as Yankee Springs Recreation Area, a great place to explore.
Before Michigan was settled, Indians of different tribes found the area abundant with game and good fishing. An Indian birchbark canoe, a dug out canoe and Indian burial site have been discovered here, along with arrowheads, and other relics. The region around Chicago Point served as encampment area for the Ottawa, Chippewa and and Patawatomi tribes
Outdoor enthusiasts are invited to swim the sandy beaches, sail the open water, fish or hike on over 15 miles of maintained trails, mountain bike on a 8 mile trail loop, or canoe a pristine bay. Chicago Point Resort provides you with 7 acres of private land with some 900 feet water frontage. You’ll enjoy the swimming, deep water fishing docks and picnic area.
